👋 Hi, I'm Casey! I am building, transforming, and growing 💼 👨‍🎨 💻 📚.

Monument to Finnish Sisu. Rocks are arranged into a large mound at the edge of a grassy plateau, overlooking fields, forests, and lakes, under a bright cloudy sky.

Currently

I lead a team building AI platforms for Product Managers and Designers to ship winning products with speed and at scale, as part of IBM's Product Excellence Office where I am a Sr. Engineering Manager. Recently shipped: agents for product teams, a dashboard tracking 70+ product strategy metrics, and a research library connecting 1,000+ UX insights to roadmaps.

I serve on the board of the global ResearchOps Community (18,000+ practitioners) and am a member of the Cha Cha Club, a members-only club for ReOps professionals.

Outside work: learning piano, kicking tires on AI tools, knowledge gardening in Obsidian, writing personal software.

Exploring

  • Enterprise-scale AI design and deployment — Shipping agents, dashboards, and integrations within IBM. Building a deeper understanding of the unique affordances, possibilities, and limitations of applied AI with each release.
  • Open platforms — Writing and speaking about the need for interoperable systems in enterprise product development. Keeping an eye on platforms that prioritize data ownership, integration, and extensibility over vendor lock-in.
  • Local-first, decentralized, and indieweb software — Using Obsidian for local-first knowledge mangement and IndieKit for social publishing and catchement. Prototyping Otso, a set of tools for greater data ownership and agency. Always interested in trying opinionated new software.
  • Operations as design — Advocating for the (often) invisible "work behind the work": building the systems, culture, and practices that set teams up for success at scale. Researching organizational design and politics across large and old institutions.
